Firehouse Live-In Program

The Windber Fire Department offers department members the opportunity to live at the station rent free. While live-in members do not have to pay rent, they are responsible for maintaining the live-in facilities and meeting higher requirements of participation in incident response, training, and company activities. A total of seven members can utilize the bunkroom facilities.

Our fire station is located only minutes from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and the Pennsylvania Highlands Community College. There is also easy access to highways for commuting students attending the numerous other educational institutions in the Cambria/Somerset region.
